Abstract

GORDILLO-GARCIA, Johan. Movement for Peace with Justice and Dignity: Cultural outcomes. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2023, vol.85, n.2, pp.465-490.  Epub May 05, 2023. ISSN 2594-0651.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iis.01882503p.2023.2.60566.

After two years of constant mobilizations to oppose the violence caused by the “war” against crime in Mexico, the Movement for Peace with Justice and Dignity (MPJD) reduced the frequency and intensity of its actions and, therefore, its public salience was diluted. However, through relational diffusion mechanisms, the MPJD impacted on the organization of new groups led by relatives of disappeared persons as well as on their contentious repertoires, giving rise to a social movement community against war-related violence in the country. This article analyzes how that process occurred.

Keywords : social movements; victims of violence; cultural consequences; relational diffusion; disappeared people.
