Abstract

MARTNER PEYRELONGUE, Carlos. Transportation and rural-urban articulation of an intermediate Mexican city. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2015, vol.77, n.2, pp.215-241. ISSN 2594-0651.

This article aims to analyze the relevance of transportation systems in the territorial restructuring of Mexican intermediate cities. In particular, it studies the transformation of a rural area near the city of Queretaro, known as Navajas-Galera, where two recent modes of transportation of persons have arisen, facilitating mobility between the region and the city. Through a systemic methodological approach, where the unit of analysis surpasses the city limits, it shows that both modes of transportation create new forms of articulation between rural and urban areas.

Keywords : territory; intermediate city; transportation; mobility.
