Abstract

BARANGER, Denis  and  PASSERON, Jean-Claude. From El oficio del sociólogo to El razonamiento sociológico. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2004, vol.66, n.2, pp.369-403. ISSN 2594-0651.

In this interview, the author of Le raisonnement sociologique provides an in-depth explanation of the way El oficio del sociólogo was written. This well-known manual is usually regarded as the most refined expression of the epistemological ideas of Pierre Bourdieu. However, the text also contains the seeds of two different, conflicting epistemologies: Bourdieu's naturalist conception, which is opposed to the theoretical pluralism defended by Passeron. The text therefore contributes to an understanding of the epistemology of both Bourdieu and Passeron.

Keywords : Epistemology; methodology; Social Sciences; Sociology; Bourdieu.
