Abstract

ITURRA TOLEDO, Mónica Andrea et al. School explanations about the limiting reagent concept. Educ. quím [online]. 2021, vol.32, n.4, pp.81-95.  Epub Feb 28, 2022. ISSN 0187-893X.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fq.18708404e.2021.5.78128.

The main objective is to analyze explanations elaborated by first year high school students regarding the concept of limiting reagent. These explanations are used to identify difficulties and alternative conceptions associated with the learning of the concept which are mainly derived from the algorithmic approach to teaching. In order to evaluate the consequences of this approach, the perceptions of the students towards the learning of chemistry are investigated. The results obtained show a tendency towards descriptive explanations, based mainly on everyday knowledge.

Keywords : Explanations; Limiting reactive; Alternative conceptions; Perceptions.
