Abstract

MARTINEZ-REINA, Marlon  and  AMADO-GONZALEZ, Eliseo. History and didactics of Chemistry through postage stamps: an example with Marie Curie. Educ. quím [online]. 2013, vol.24, n.1, pp.71-78. ISSN 0187-893X.

When the United Nations declared that 2011 would be the International Year of Chemistry, it did so in part because the year 2011 coincided with the 100th anniversary of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry awarded to Madame Marie Curie. Sharing philatelic material between teachers and students is helpful to study the life and work of relevant scientists. In this article forty-six postage stamps issued by different countries from 1938 through 2011 were used to make a didactic description of the biographical aspects of Marie Curie.

Keywords : Marie Curie; chemistry history; women in chemistry; philately; postage stamp.
