Abstract

GEORGE AGUILAR, Fernando et al. Prognostic factors in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome based on lung recruitment. Rev. Asoc. Mex. Med. Crít. Ter. Intensiva [online]. 2015, vol.29, n.1, pp.22-26. ISSN 0187-8433.

Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is characterized by increased permeability of the alveolar capillary membrane, diffuse alveolar damage and proteinaceous pulmonary edema; the central objective of mechanical ventilation in ARDS is to minimize any further damage while adequate gas exchange maintaining and clinical status that triggered resets; despite widespread knowledge gained regarding the etiology and pathophysiology of ARDS, the feasibility and reproducibility of the current definition, of the packages set for early and optimal treatment have established consensus on severity scales and based on these achieve clinical improvement in the short and medium term outcomes, overall mortality is still between 40-60%, depending on prognostic factors.

Keywords : ARDS; lung recruitment; prognostic factors.
