Abstract

VILLANUEVA-COUOH, Eduardo et al. Mineral Nutrition with Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium in the Production of Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat. with Regional Substrates in Yucatan, Mexico. Terra Latinoam [online]. 2010, vol.28, n.1, pp.43-52. ISSN 2395-8030.

This experiment was performed to test different doses of fertigation, as well as to select a regional substrate for the production of the chrysanthemum for use as a cut flower and to study the effect of both factors on leaf nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) concentration. Six doses of fertigation and four substrates were tested in this experiment. The four substrates consisted of 70% organic materials from the region and 30% (v/v) K'ankab soil. The different factors were studied in a completely randomized design with split plot and three repetitions each. The plants grew better in the S2 substrate (70% sisal pulp + 30% soil), at 119 days after transplant (DAT), with 50-25-100 and 100-50-200 mg L-1 of N, P, and K; these were the best doses for the height and stalk diameter variables of the plant. No statistical differences were found in foliage or root fresh and dry matter, root volume, leaf area, or flower diameter. The doses indicated were the best in all the above mentioned variables, particularly in flower diameter, which was 12.2 cm. N concentration in leaves and stalks were statistically equal in all treatments with 50-25-100, 100-50-200 and 250-125-500 mg L-1 of N-P-K at 119 DAT, but different from the control, while doses of 150-75-300, and 200-100-400 mg L-1 of N-P-K were statistically equal to the control. P and K concentrations in leaves and stalks were statistically different among substrates, and the S2 substrate showed the highest levels with 62 mg g-1 and 61.9 mg g-1 of P and K, respectively.
