Abstract

HERNANDEZ TRUJILLO, José Manuel  and  BARRON PEREZ, María Antonieta. Mexican Agricultural Firms and Their Systems for Ensuring Labor Supply. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2013, vol.28, n.80, pp.209-240. ISSN 2007-8358.

This article analyzes Mexico's agricultural labor market, attempting to identify the general conditions and processes that characterize forms of hiring day laborers. The authors have stratified firms according to the number of workers they hire and found two clear forms of operation. They also analyze the tendency to regularize the labor market based on how the large companies employing 80 percent of day laborers operate.

Keywords : firm; agricultural; day laborers; migration; poverty.
