Abstract

MARTINEZ-AVALOS, AMM et al. In vitro evaluation of manure silage, corn stover and molasses. Universidad y ciencia [online]. 2008, vol.24, n.3, pp.247-250. ISSN 0186-2979.

The in vitro digestibility of dry matter (DIVMS) of complete diets with manure silage (0, 50, 75 and 100%) was analysed in order to replace corn stover with two forrage:concentrate ratios (70:30 vs 80:20). Silage was prepared with 50 % cattle manure, 20 % cane molasses-water (1:1.5) and 30 % corn stover. The DIVMS values for the 70:30 ratio were 61.1, 63.9, 63.5 and 60.9% (R2 = 0.94; p < 0.05), and for the 80:20 ratio they were 62.9, 69.4, 51.4 and 44.7% (R2 = 0.85; p < 0.05). Results indicated that cattle manure silage levels over 27-28% reduce the DIVMS.

Keywords : Cattle manure; silage; in vitro digestibility.
