This text lists and analyzes the objectives of studies on Mexican traditional medicine and the different ways of studying it between the late 1930s and the present. The aims of said studies and the changes generated in them are established. In addition, the main characteristics of the ways of studying them are described and analyzed, which, despite the time, have remained the dominant ones throughout said period.
