Abstract

The Round Table of Mexican Marxists was a meeting held by the proposal of Vicente Lombardo Toledano in 1947, in which relevant figures from the Left participated to discuss national and international problems. This article argues that this was a one-of-a-kind historical event in which the change of era was openly discussed, and to deal with it, decisions that directly impacted the development of the Left and the country were made. This is analyzed from a critical reflection on the existing literature on the Table and the description of the conjunctural problems that explain the topics and tones of the debates.
