Abstract

SANCHEZ VELEZ, Alejandro  and  SILVA LAYA, Marisol. Citizenship Education in High Academic Development Universities in Mexico City. Rev. educ. sup [online]. 2022, vol.51, n.202, pp.1-25.  Epub May 29, 2023. ISSN 0185-2760.  https://doi.org/10.36857/resu.2022.202.2115.

From a non-representative sample of 545 students (446 from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and 99 from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City), from three careers (Law, Administration and Engineering), this article describes their citizenship meanings, their perception about citizenship education in their institutions and careers, and their interest for certain democratic practices. Results show meanings and interests specially associated to a representative democracy but a strong uninterest for subjects related with political parties. In both universities citizenship education is recognized with tones associated to each institution.

Keywords : Citizenship Education; Universities; University Students; Democracy; Citizenship.
