Abstract

PINTO, Rosalba; GALAZ FONTES, Jesús Francisco  and  PADILLA GONZALEZ, Laura Elena. Estudios nacionales sobre académicos en México: Una comparación metodológica. Rev. educ. sup [online]. 2012, vol.41, n.163, pp.9-49. ISSN 0185-2760.

In the early 1980s faculty started being considered a subject of study by educational research in Mexico. From 1992 to 2007 there have been four national faculty surveys. In this paper, a methodological comparison between these surveys is carried out along six dimensions: 1) universe, 2) sample, 3) sampling, 4) survey instrument, 5) survey application and response rate, and 6) data entry and database creation. It is concluded that analyzed works are national surveys that have contributed to establishing the academic profession as a field of study, however they lack a meta-objective that could transcend the specific purposes of each study for them to stand as projects with a broader reach.

Keywords : Faculty; Surveys; Comparative analysis; Higher education; Mexico.
