Abstract

VENEGAS-RAMOS, Luis  and  GAIRIN SALLAN, Joaquín. Approach to the state of tutoring in Chilean universities. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2020, vol.42, n.167, pp.103-118.  Epub Apr 30, 2020. ISSN 0185-2698.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iisue.24486167e.2019.167.59002.

This study examines the situation of tutoring undertaken in Chilean universities, between the years 2015 and 2016, from a quantitative approach, with an exploratory design, which allowed us to obtain results on two levels: first, it provides an overview of the object of study after examining the websites of 60 Chilean universities on their tutoring programs, and second it describes in detail how 24 public and private universities in Chile operate in relation to tutoring, by means of an exhaustive survey applied to the managers and professionals involved. Based on the results, we find that in Chile, tutoring is exercised more commonly in the early years of university study, through the model of peer tutoring, with a focus on skills for adaptation to university life, study strategies, and academic leveling.
