Abstract
CABRERA, Óscar Maureira and GARAY, Sergio. Toward measuring the distribution of leadership in effective and vulnerable schools in Chile. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2019, vol.41, n.166, pp.141-159. Epub Apr 17, 2020. ISSN 0185-2698. https://doi.org/10.22201/iisue.24486167e.2019.166.58718.
A fourth of the variability of scholastic achievement can be attributed to the quality of managerial leadership, especially if it is instructive; also, various studies maintain that when leadership is distributed, such achievement increases. Nevertheless, studies in Chile and in Latin America on this conception are scant, and the existence of instruments to measure this construct is even more precarious. In this article, we analyze the reliability and validity of scales created for a multidimensional questionnaire of the distribution of leadership based on a sample of 51 highly vulnerable elementary schools in Chile, which, in three consecutive periods, stood out from among other similar schools. The results reveal satisfactory reliability, measured by Cronbach’s alpha, whereas exploratory and confirmative factorial analyses indicate that a majority of the items are grouped in a factor by scale.
