In this paper a proposal is made for the analysis and ideological critique of common-sense conceptions regarding education, Pedagogy, neo-liberalism and globalization. It is about an exploration of the modern institutional evolution of these conceptions, whilst proposing considerations to reflect upon the non-evident relationships between them. The main purpose of this paper is to establish the relevance of the pedagogical mediations in overcoming common-sense conceptions, whilst valuing the latter as a form of fundamental knowledge upon which the educational practices should be structured in a broad sense and, in particular, in an institutional sense. The whole analysis is proposed within the framework of the conception of education which, whilst going beyond the bounds of the formal educational institutions, returns to them, especially with regard to teacher training, by recognizing its fundamental social role from theperspective of the dialectics between the instituted and the instituting.
