Abstract

TIRADO SEGURA, Felipe; MIRANDA DIAZ, Alejandro  and  SANCHEZ MOGUEL, Andrés. Evaluation as legimity process: student's opinion. Report of an experience. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2007, vol.29, n.118, pp.07-24. ISSN 0185-2698.

This study presents various aspects, which concern the importance of legitimating social operations and institutional gestation in educational organizations by taking into account the right of students to express their opinions regarding the performance of their teachers. The study reports the analysis of 26,010 questionnaires answered by students of a university campus regarding the quality of teaching of 1,011 professors. The conclusion of the study delineates the characteristics of a good teacher, in accordance with the opinions expressed by a majority of the students. Another relevant aspect of the study deals with the manner in which online technologies were used, as a medium for instituting operative procedures, for solving problems in a continuous and systematic manner and, for making the social expression of large communities more transparent, thus contributing towards a culture of legitimacy.
