Abstract

BARBA MARIN, Leticia. Teaching written language in basic education by means of its programs and paedagogical models: Balance and outlook. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2004, vol.26, n.103, pp.38-56. ISSN 0185-2698.

This article compares the efforts made recently in Mexico following the pedagogical methodologies and programs implemented by the Ministry of Public Education (Secretaría de Educación Pública SEP) with the results they obteined with regard to the students' performances and the innovation of educational practices in relation with the written language abilities in basic education. It also gives information about the actions that were carried out during the last few years and about the spreading of the pedagogical knowledge that had a special influence on the pedagogical proposal and in national programs. Finally the author expresses some considerations about the succesful results and the obstacles the have met, and the conclusion, based on information and evidences tackles in the article and the results of an empirical research to wich it refers, is that although the problem's size is huge and complex, it is possible to found some ways to improve the situation in short terms.
