Abstract

ALTABLE, Francisco. The miners of New Spain used to end in ruin: A case of personal imprudence and administrative excess. Estud. hist. novohisp [online]. 2013, n.48, pp.85-121. ISSN 2448-6922.

This paper describes the economic and social collapse of Gaspar Pisón, Andalusian miner of Baja California, in the last decades of the 18th century. The focus of the paper is to analyze the personality flaws and excesses in the justice administration as factors behind the collapse of mining, and this collapse as a cause-among others-of the economic decline of the region of Baja California Sur.
