Abstract

ZAVALA ECHAVARRIA, lván. El individualismo en los electores mexicanos. Estud. polít. (Méx.) [online]. 2006, n.8, pp.81-109. ISSN 0185-1616.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fcpys.24484903e.2006.8.37684.

The author studies individualism and its impact amongst Mexican voters in order to demonstrate that non-aligned citizens are the ones more prone to participate in electoral processes. To validate this claim, the author develops an index to measure the degree of individualism and concludes that those who describe themselves as "individualists" tend to vote for PAN, those with less individualist identities tend to vote for PRI, and, finally, that PRD voters have a dual identity: they are rhetorical anti-individualists in thinking and anti-individualists in their electoral preferences.

Keywords : Individualismo; Procesos electorales; Partido Revolucionario Institucional; Partido de la Revolución Democrática.
