Abstract

RAGA, A. C.  and  REIPURTH, B.. Herbig-Haro jets emerging from a neutral cloud into a H II region. Rev. mex. astron. astrofis [online]. 2004, vol.40, n.1, pp.15-23. ISSN 0185-1101.

We present numerical simulations of a Herbig-Haro flow that bursts out of a dense cloud core into a surrounding H II region. Such blow-outs from cloud cores have recently been imaged in various star-forming regions, and we here explore the properties of such out flows by varying selected input parameters to the models. We present time-series of temperature, density, ionization fraction, and Hα emission. We find that the Hα emission of the outflows is mostly controlled by the impinging ionizing photon field rather than by the intrinsic properties of the outflows.

Keywords : ISM [Herbing-Haro objects]; ISM [Jets and out-flows]; ISM [Kinematics and dynamics].
