SABOIA BEZERRA, Helga María. The Spanish War of Independence and the Constitution of Cádiz (1812). Peculiarities and influences. Bol. Mex. Der. Comp. [online]. 2019, vol.52, n.154, pp.285-317.  Epub May 12, 2020. ISSN 2448-4873.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iij.24484873e.2019.154.14145.

The promulgation of the Constitution of Cádiz was a turning point in the history of constitutionalism, which had its inception under the Atlantic Revolutions. This article aims to praise the Spanish Constitution of 1812 -which gave rise to the principle of National Sovereignty- through the analysis of its importance for the universal constitutionalism, especially in Brazil and Portugal. It pays special attention to the historical context which modeled that document and to the study of some of the devices that stand out due to their peculiarity.

Keywords : Spanish Constitutionalism; Constitution of Cádiz; Spanish War of Independence; National Sovereignty.
