Abstract

SOTO, Cristian. Peirce’s Evolutionary Theory of Truth. Crítica (Méx., D.F.) [online]. 2010, vol.42, n.126, pp.25-44.  Epub May 12, 2020. ISSN 0011-1503.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iifs.18704905e.2010.863.

I shall expound the general lines of an evolutionary theory of truth with three main purposes: first, to show that it offers an account of Peirce’s pragmatist theory of truth, taking together convergence and correspondence; second, to evidence that it involves realist metaphysical commitments in the relation between evolution, truth, and reality; and, third, to throw light on an important aspect of the contemporary discussion about theories of truth, namely, its eminently metaphysical character.

Keywords : evolution; reality; convergence; correspondence; metaphysics.
