Abstract
PINA-OSORIO, Juan Manuel. Political culture in students from the Universidad Autónoma Chapingo. agric. soc. desarro [online]. 2008, vol.5, n.1, pp.93-113. ISSN 1870-5472.
In this article, we approach the political culture of a sample of undergraduate students in the Universidad Autónoma Chapingo (UACh). To fulfill this objective, a questionnaire was designed and applied. The young people were asked if they about read politics, the media through which they obtain information (radio, television, newspapers, the Internet), their opinion regarding their political representatives, those of their university community, public servants, and their closeness or preference for a particular political party. The results indicate that the presidential figure, the policeman and citizen voting do not have the acceptance of most students, which means scarce legitimacy of important instances in a political system. On the contrary, they expressed a favorable attitude in regards to the UACh rector and student voting, a situation that can be explained given the closeness the student has with the student environment, added to the institution's government structure that allows for the student to mature towards a democratic political culture.
