INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

 

Guidelines for presenting manuscripts:

Problema will publish original contributions in English or Spanish relating to Legal, Political and Moral Philosophy topics, in one of the following sections of the journal: Discussion Topic, Articles or Review Essays. The Discussion Topic section includes papers usually made by invitation only. Contributions for the Articles section will be subject to a double-blind peer review. Review Essays can also be submitted and will be published prior approval by the editor.

All contributions submitted for publication must be unpublished manuscripts. Articles in the process of being published by other journals or press will be rejected.

All contributions must be presented in Word for Windows. Spanish language contributions should conform to the Legal Research Institute, National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) Editorial Criteria, available at http://www.juridicas.unam.mx/publica/critedit/critedit.pdf. English language contributions should conform to the Oxford Standard for the Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA), available at http://www.law.ox.ac.uk/published/OSCOLA_4th_edn.pdf. Without exception Problema will only admit contributions that conform either to the UNAM or OSCOLA citation criteria.

General criteria for submitting papers:

1. Bookman Old Style 12 point font, text justified on both margins, line spacing of 1.5, and page numbers centered at the bottom.

2. All contribution, except review essays, must include an abstract of 150-200 words and four to five keywords which reflect the main ideas of the paper.

3. References must appear at the foot of the page, in Bookman Old Style 10 point font, justified, single spaced.

4. Submissions should mention contact information: e-mail address, telephone number, post address, and current academic position.

All papers submitted for the articles section will be subject of double-blind peer review. Reasons given priority for publication are: originality, quality, and argumentative soundness.

If an article is recommended for publication but with revisions and/or corrections, the author will be informed and asked to respond to these revisions and/or corrections during the following 20 days. Once this is done, the article is again sent to the reviewer or reviewers for comments on the modifications made.

In case an article is evaluated as "Publishable" by one examiner and "Non-Publishable" by another, Problema's editor-in-chief will send the article to a third examiner which, in turn, will settle a final result. When both examiners opinions are negative, the author will be immediately informed that his collaboration has been declined. All decisions are final.

Once an article is accepted for publication, the author will be asked to sign a copyright transfer agreement.
