Convocatoria para Artículos de Revisión

Comité Editorial

In 1979 the first issue of the Mexican Journal of Biomedical Engineering (RMIB) that included research articles was published. Since then, biomedical engineering has evolved, having so far more than 30 subspecialties (Table 1) according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

Due to the above and with the aim of commemorating the evolution of biomedical engineering and the RMIB in the last 40 years, the Editorial Committee (2018-2019) launches this call for papers for Review Articles that are within the areas that they are listed below:

  • Biosensing using nano materials and micro / nanostructure systems

  • Brain-Computer Interface

  • 3D printing in healthcare

  • Energy Harvesting and Wearable Systems in Healthcare

  • Biomaterials

  • Computer Assisted Diagnosis (CADx) in Medical Imaging

  • Clinical Engineering

The subjects participating in the call for papers are born from the objective of covering the largest number of biomedical engineering subspecialties present in subjects with scientific relevance in recent years and each one of them was proposed by a member of the Editorial Committee. It is necessary to mention that a review article is a detailed, selective and critical study that examines the published literature and places it in a certain perspective. Its main objective is to identify what is known about the topic, what has been investigated, to know the most outstanding progress that this topic has made in a period and what aspects remain unknown.

  1. This Call for Papers is intended for researchers that specialize in Biosensing using nano materials and micro / nanostructure systems, Brain-Computer Interface, 3D printing in healthcare, Energy Harvesting and Wearable Systems in Healthcare, Biomaterials, Computer Assisted Diagnosis (CADx) in Medical Imaging and Clinical Engineering

  2. Contributing research and review papers should be formatted according to the RMIB template, available for download at

  3. All authors must present a full statement declaring that the submitted manuscript is original, has not been published before and is not currently being considered for publication elsewhere. RMIB author declaration template can be downloaded at

  4. Author guidelines and submission instructions are described in

  5. The corresponding authors must submit their manuscripts through the Open Journal System platform at RMIB

  6. All authors must complete their registration in the OJS platform at RMIB

  7. The statement letter needs to be sent via email to

  8. The paper submission deadline is June 15, 2019, 23:59 hrs Mexico City CDT (GMT -5 h).

  9. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.

  10. The RMIB Editorial Committee reserves the right to accept and publish any submitted paper to this Special Issue.

  11. For publishing at RMIB, authors of the accepted papers should adhere to the Journal’s copyright editorial policies.

  12. The RMIB Editorial Committee decisions will be notified via email to the corresponding authors before August 15, 2019. The Editorial Committee decisions cannot be appealed.

  13. Publication deadline is September 15, 2019. Final publication date of each selected paper will depend on editing and proofing.
