Resumen

VELASCO-VAZQUEZ, Andrea et al. Frequency of arterial and venous thrombosis of the limbs in patients with COVID-19. Rev. mex. angiol. [online]. 2022, vol.50, n.2, pp.56-64.  Epub 05-Oct-2022. ISSN 2696-130X.  https://doi.org/10.24875/rma.21000045.

Background:

COVID-19 respiratory infection became a major risk factor for limb arterial and venous thrombosis.

Objective:

To determine the frequency of arterial or venous thrombosis due to COVID-19.

Methods:

Retrospective cohort study to determine the incidence of thrombosis due to COVID-19 and associated comorbidities; we used the SPSS-25 program for statistical analysis and establishing a value of p < 0.05 as significant.

Results:

We assessed 255 patients in the COVID-19 unit for probable vascular pathology; 49% (n = 125 patients) met the inclusion criteria; 90.4% (n = 113) presented some degree of IAA; 12% (n = 15) DVT; 3.2% (n = 4) arterial and venous thrombosis. They turned out to be risk factors for IAA, being male, having diabetes mellitus type 2, and being female for DVT.

Conclusions:

In arterial or venous thrombosis, gender influenced, increasing by COVID-19.
