Background:

Research in family medicine is essential and medical congresses are vital for the dissemination of research, promoting continuous improvements in medical care.

Objective:

To analyze the most frequent research topics presented during the XXXIV National Congress of Family Medicine in Tabasco, 2024, by physicians in training.

Material and methods:

Retrospective, descriptive and observational study type cross-sectional survey. 90 research abstracts sent by medical staff during the congress were analyzed, of which 69 were presented in person. The data were collected and analyzed with Excel Office 2011 and SPSS V.27. Inferential descriptive statistics were used, as well as χ2 for the analysis.

Results:

Of the 90 abstracts, 62.2% were sent by women. The main topics was family functionality (14.4%), health education (7.7%), metabolic control, cognitive impairment and depression-anxiety disorders (6.6% each). Epidemiological research accounted for 43% of the papers, clinical research 23%, and humanities and family 17%. 51% focused on primary prevention.

Conclusions:

The research topics reflect an orientation toward family functionality and health education, aligning with national training programs and priority health care programs.
