This paper raises the need for social innovation projects to incorporate the territorial dimension in order to really impact on social inequalities, which are interwoven with territorial inequalities. This finding is a product of questioning social innovation and its procedures to solve problems of inequality and injustice in urban territories. The finding is sustained in an empirical corpus based on observations and interviews for four years to more than 87 actors of the social innovation ecosystems of Guadalajara and Pachuca in México. During the study, it was found that the absence of a geographical view represents an opportunity for reflection and the outline of policies for social innovation, betting on a greater scope of the development of cities, combating social inequalities in the territories.
