Resumen

BUCIO PACHECO, Christian; SANTIAGO VILLAR, Fernanda  y  LAPA GUZMAN, Javier. Impact of Different Types of Bank Credit on Economic Growth in Mexico: A VAR and SVAR Analysis (2011-2022). The Anáhuac j. [online]. 2025, vol.25, n.2, e2868.  Epub 26-Ene-2026. ISSN 2683-2690.  https://doi.org/10.36105/theanahuacjour.2025v25n2.2868.

This study examines the impact of various types of bank credit-namely, consumer, business, to financial institutions, and housing credit-on economic growth in Mexico. The analysis employs vector autoregressive (VAR) and structural vector autoregressive (SVAR) models, along with impulse-response functions, and is complemented by Granger causality tests. The empirical findings suggest that most forms of credit have a significant influence and exhibit a causal relationship with economic growth in Mexico. The exception is housing credit, which neither affects economic growth nor shows a causal link. The study’s originality lies in its methodological approach, specifically the application of advanced econometric techniques.
