Abstract

GANDOLFI, Laura. Contributions of the Ábside Magazine to the Field of Mexican Bibliography. Bibliographica [online]. 2023, vol.6, n.1, pp.291-312.  Epub Nov 25, 2024. ISSN 2594-178X.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iib.2594178xe.2023.1.371.

Ábside. Revista de Cultura Mexicana was one of the most important 20th century Mexican magazines. Founded by Gabriel Méndez Plancarte -a historian, humanist, and poet- it welcomed a wide and heterogeneous group of collaborators, becoming not only the main spotlight of Catholic culture in the country, but also one of the most remarkable editorial productions in the subject during that period, both in and out of Mexico. This article focuses on Ábside’s contributions to the field of Mexican bibliography. Considering it as an important object of study to examine the links between the fields of hemerography and bibliography, it aims to show how this publication actively participated in the evolution and dissemination of bibliography as a discipline in this country.

Keywords : Ábside; Gabriel Méndez Plancarte; cultural magazines; Mexican bibliography; 20th century.
