Abstract
ROSAS XELHUANTZI, Tesiu. Proposal for a Typology of Colonial Manuscripts in Indigenous Languages Held in the Biblioteca Nacional de México. Bibliographica [online]. 2021, vol.4, n.2, pp.159-182. Epub Dec 09, 2024. ISSN 2594-178X. https://doi.org/10.22201/iib.2594178xe.2021.2.108.
Derived from a catalogs review and the material study of the documents, this paper outlines the thematic axes found in the corpus of colonial manuscripts in indigenous languages preserved by the Biblioteca Nacional de México (National Library of Mexico). Based on a comparative analysis, this article proposes a typological classification of four divisions called documentary genres. The conclusion is that approaching the collection as an object of study allows ancillary research paths to the individual analysis of the manuscripts.
Keywords : Manuscripts; indigenous languages; typological classification; New Spain; 16th-18th centuries.
