Abstract

Q. MENDOZA, Gerardo. El Pueblo Newspaper and the Carrancista Political Propaganda (October 1914 - January 1915). Bibliographica [online]. 2019, vol.2, n.2, pp.131-170.  Epub Dec 09, 2024. ISSN 2594-178X.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iib.bibliographica.2019.2.51.

Elements found in El Pueblo newspaper (October 1914 - January 1915) show the preparation and exploitation of a series of messages on behalf of the Revolutionary Carrancista Group, now turned into propaganda guidelines with the adequate contents for its diffusion. This political group knows what the press is for and uses it to systematically attack their enemies, defend their armies, main generals and above all, their leader. Venustiano Carranza, First Chief of the Constitutionalist Army, and Francisco Villa, Chief of the Sovereign Convention Armies, are key actors of this conflict and of the political propaganda published in the daily El Pueblo. All around their figures, family previous records, educational, cultural and psychological backgrounds, as well as their careers and governmental or war actions, is centered the whole weight of Carranza’s propaganda defense and Villa’s derision.

Keywords : El Pueblo newspaper; Mexican Revolution; Venustiano Carranza; Francisco Villa; political propaganda.
