Abstract

MENDOZA, Juan José. Vicissitudes of the Texts in the Digital Age. (Essay for a History of Textualities). Bibliographica [online]. 2019, vol.2, n.1, pp.197-224.  Epub Dec 09, 2024. ISSN 2594-178X.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iib.bibliographica.2019.1.21.

Essay that offers a reflection on certain state of the literary studies, specifically concerning to the transformation of texts in the digital age. In this crossroad context, this paper examines the possibilities of a “literary history” as an alibi for contemporary literary theory and criticism, mobilized by the transformation of texts -source studies, its historicity- and, at the same time, by the emergence of new study objects. Springing up from the inquiry about the meanings of criticism in times later than the literary age, this work also provides an incipient reflection on a new “history of textualities”.

Keywords : Ways of reading in the digital age; history of textualities; digital humanities; theory and literary criticism; literary history.
