Abstract

This article presents an advance of the research project devoted to the scientific articles published by Pedro Castera in the newspapers El Domingo, La República and El Correo de las Doce, in 1873 and 1881-1882, which belong to his early stages as a disseminator. The analysis addresses the development of topics related to the point of view on science offered by the author, namely the role of the press in the dissemination of scientific issues; the relationship amidst science and progress, as well as between science and spiritualism; the man of science image's configuration and, finally, his reflection on the transmission of scientific progress through words.
