At the beginning of the 19th Century different publishers, printers and booksellers distributed Don Quijote by Cervantes in Mexico City; these businessmen bought commercial spaces in newspapers and magazines to promote their editions. This exploration collects those advertisements to identify the publications that were traded during the first three d ecades of independent Mexico. The search was made in digital periodical libraries of Mexico and Spain, and the information assisted to identify 10 editions produced in Madrid, Paris, Barcelona and Mexico. The results helped to understand book commercialization, and to recognize aspects about its dissemination among Mexican readers.
