Abstract

MENESES TELLO, Felipe. Bibliographic Instruction in Mexico: The Academic Legacy of the College of Library Science and Archives. Bibliographica [online]. 2018, vol.1, n.1, pp.115-180.  Epub Dec 09, 2024. ISSN 2594-178X.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iib.bibliographica.2018.1.8.

The goal of this paper is to study the uniqueness of bibliography in Mexico, particularly at the College of Library Science and Archives, Faculty of Philosophy and Literature of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Since its first curriculum in 1956 this College has traditionally placed a strong emphasis on bibliographic instruction, which continues to be an important part of its curricula today. The aim is to identify the most important intellectual contributions regarding this subject, recorded in the writings of Alicia Perales Ojeda and Gloria Escamilla González, among other university professors, precursors, contemporaries and successors. This teaching constitutes an academic legacy that benefits the librarian community.
