This research addresses the impacts of transport infrastructure on urban environments, focusing on auxiliary rail infrastructure as an urban catalyst. The research was carried out through the analysis of city maps, railroads, hemerography and other documentation, thereby identifying that the integration of the said infrastructure in the cities of Aguascalientes, Mérida and San Luis Potosí was influenced by business, political and social factors. This study broadens the understanding of the relationship between rail infrastructure and urbanization.
