Resumen

BARRERA CASTELLANOS, Johan Arturo. Male sex workers in Bogotá, Colombia. Bonds, friendships, affinities, and usefulness. Debate fem. [online]. 2024, vol.68, pp.195-221.  Epub 13-Mayo-2025. ISSN 2594-066X.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cieg.2594066xe.2024.68.2364.

This research uses a qualitative, descriptive approach to understand how a group of male sex workers builds emotional ties with people outside their kinship network-family of origin/blood relatives-through their life stories. To this end, semi-structured interviews were conducted, yielding five life stories. It becomes evident that the relationships built with peers delimit the parameters of the subject’s sociability in context. Thisis how affinity constitutes the axis of linkage between the subject and others.
