Resumen
PEREZ TOLEDO, Rodrigo. Luminous, Agile, and Elastic Leopards: Homoeroticism between Men in the Work of Oswaldo Reynoso. Debate fem. [online]. 2022, vol.64, pp.122-143. Epub 20-Mayo-2023. ISSN 2594-066X. https://doi.org/10.22201/cieg.2594066xe.2022.64.2358.
In this article, I analyze the depiction of relationships between men and the beauty of boys in the work of Oswaldo Reynoso (1931-2016). Previous analyses of his work address linguistic issues, the reception of his narrative and the relationships between men in some of his books. In conclusion, I consider that the encounters and relationships between men and boys Reynoso portrayed can be divided into homosexual and homoerotic. The former are a criticism of Peruvian society, particularly the upper classes, in which homosexuality is clearly depicted. The latter are concealed within the text and range from relationships of friendship, camaraderie, and support between the characters, to the overt portrayal of the beauty of young men. Finally, I consider that Reynoso’s work contains elements that can be considered decolonial, as they challenge the ideas about beauty and sexuality present in the region.
