The purpose of this research was to analyze the influence of rural education and agroecology on the generational transformations of gender relations in the narratives of young agroecological women farmers. Five young women from Vale do Rio Pardo, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil were interviewed. The arguments highlight the recognition of women as pioneers of organic production, which, despite its lack of acknowledgement, was always a practice of care and autonomy transmitted transgenerationally. Rural education, particularly when it is related to agroecology, created a space for questions and contributed to the process of emancipation and transformation of rural women’s ways of life. This new generation of women challenges culturally established gender relations by recognizing themselves as powerful agents of change in the quest for gender equality.
