Abstract

GONZALEZ-JULIANA, Álvaro. Subsidies to parliamentary groups and accountability. Reflections regarding the reach of the transparency law. Estud. derecho inf. [online]. 2024, n.18, pp.209-234.  Epub Aug 12, 2025. ISSN 2594-0082.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iij.25940082e.2024.18.18808.

The scarce regulation of subsidies to parliamentary groups, together with the absence of their control by the Chambers, accentuate the public’s interest in knowing and controlling how these public funds are spent. This article analyses the applicability of Law 19/2013, of 9 December, on transparency, access to public information and good governance to these subsidies, highlighting the insufficiency of active publicity in this area and the difficulties in accessing this information, which prevents true accountability.

Keywords : parliamentary groups; subsidies; public funding; transparency; access to information.
