The aim of this article is to analyze the levels of normative autonomy that exist in the appointment of heads of the anti-corruption prosecutors in the 32 states of Mexico. This analysis is carried out through an index that is based on the review of the respective constitutions and secondary laws. Additionally, two cases are examined to provide additional information on normative changes and the implementation of appointment processes. The results not only reveal different levels of autonomy among the states but also highlight the difficulties that arise in practice.
