The budget granted by the government for public libraries in Mexico is currently minimal, which is why alternative sources of income are sought to finance projects of various kinds. Many libraries around the world but especially in the United States and Spain have implemented fundraising in their public libraries, achieving very good results. This article presents relevant data of both, the government budget awarded to public libraries in Mexico, as well as proposals and strategies that help develop plans and programs to attract external resources and various sources, based on real success stories.
