TECALCO-CRUZ, Ángeles C. y CORTES GONZALEZ, Carlo C.. Uterine adenosarcoma with sarcomatous overgrowth: a rare and aggressive cancer for post menopausal women. Gac. mex. oncol. [online]. 2021, vol.20, n.2, pp.71-78. Epub 18-Oct-2021. ISSN 2565-005X. https://doi.org/10.24875/j.gamo.21000180.
Uterine adenosarcoma is a sarcoma-type genitourinary cancer that occurs mostly in postmenopausal women. Sarcomatous overgrowth adenosarcoma (ASSO) is a rare uterine adenosarcoma variant that is characterized by tumors that are more aggressive. The ASSO incidences have been increasing, and its rapid progression and recurrence lead to the death of patients with this form of cancer. The main symptoms are abnormal vaginal bleeding and pelvic and/or abdominal pain. Limited information on uterine ASSO is available to guide clinical management, care and monitoring. In this review, we investigate the epidemiological, clinical, and molecular aspects that are known so far about adenosarcoma and ASSO, to gain a better understanding of this cancer, promote research, for its identification and control.
