Introduction:
Intussusception is rare in adults, and is characterized by intermittent abdominal pain.
Case report:
A 50-year-old female with a diagnosis of rectal cancer who underwent an ultra-low anterior resection and colo-rectum anastomosis with Brooke-type ileostomy. In the postoperative period, she presented nonspecific abdominal pain, with functional ileostomy without alterations; after adjuvant treatment, restitution of intestinal transit was performed, finding an intussusception in the ileal stump.
Discussion and review of the literature:
Intussusception of the ileal stump is a very rare event with no reports of similar events in the literature.
