Resumen
LOPEZ FERMIN, Jorge et al. Arrhythmic storm associated with COVID-19; literature review and case report in Mexico. Med. crít. (Col. Mex. Med. Crít.) [online]. 2023, vol.37, n.3, pp.262-267. Epub 20-Oct-2025. ISSN 2448-8909. https://doi.org/10.35366/111305.
Arrhythmias are one of the main causes of death in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). During the COVID-19 pandemic, multiple complications have been reported in patients, especially those in critical condition, in which various factors have been associated with their development. Arrhythmic storm is a serious and potentially lethal condition, with a not entirely clear pathophysiology, requiring an early identification of potential modifiable and preventable risk factors, since once the condition is installed, survival is minimal. A case report is presented based on the CARE guidelines of a 22-year-old male, diagnosed with critical COVID-19, who develops episodes of tachyarrhythmias during his hospitalization, which meets the diagnostic criteria for arrhythmic storm.
