Abstract

The objective of this article is to reflect on the contributions made by the thematic social role play in the psychological development of children in preschool age. The reflections are based on the historical-cultural approach and the theory of activity. As a result, the contributions generated by the thematic social role play in child development are recognized in relation to the emotional self-regulation of behavior, the communicative activity displayed, the reflective activity, and the symbolic function. It is concluded that the role of the adult as a researcher is reflective during the planning and implementation of the playful activity, which allows setting forth diverse novel didactic actions that promote child development.
