An overview is provided of recent forms of Psychology in relation to Palestine and in the context of the occupation by the State of Israel and the resistance against this occupation. First, various studies addressing the psychological aspect of the so-called Israeli-Palestinian “conflict” are critically reviewed. Two major categories of works within the mainstream currents of Psychology are distinguished: those that seek to explain and help to resolve the conflict, and those that attempt to detect, understand and treat its effects. The article then delves into another class of works that reflexively turn to previous work and question it for issues such as its cultural inadequacy, Eurocentrism, liberalism, individualism and its mechanisms of psychologization, depoliticization, dehistoricization, and decontextualization. These questions offer a glimpse into an emerging Critical Psychology whose power lies in its connection with the Palestinian people.
