Abstract

SOLORZANO CASTILLO, Graciela. Interpretation of the Metaphorical Subject: Festival, Game, and Symbol in Lezama Lima. Interpret. Rev. herméneut [online]. 2025, vol.10, n.1, pp.171-189.  Epub June 20, 2025. ISSN 2448-864X.  https://doi.org/10.19130/iifl.irh.2025.1/00s329x7w041.

This work aims to study the poetics and a couple of fragments of two chapters of Paradiso, in which the commemoration or festival appears, accompanied by the symbol and the game, as temporal and spatial determinants conducive to the interpretation by the characters, offered as an unfolding in the exercise of the reader. Gadamer, in his book La actualidad de lo bello, reflects on the anthropological aspect of art from the play, the symbol and the festival, proposing, through the analogical process, the possibility of thinking about art parallel to these three human activities. Using this text as a theoretical framework, I intend to show how in Lezama Lima’s poetry and novel, the festival, the game, and the symbol are also presented as a trigger.

Keywords : Hermeneutics; Lezama Lima; Paradiso; party; game; symbol.
